When it was announced that the World War II superhero squad The Invaders would be included in Captain America: The First Avenger, many thought that meant we'd be seeing Namor: The Sub-Mariner, who is part of a team that also includes Union Jack/Montgomery Falsworth. While it has been confirmed that JJ Feild is playing Union Jack in the movie, director Joe Johnston has shot down rumors that Namor: The Sub-Mariner will be featured as well. While other as-yet announced members of The Invaders will be making an appearance, Namor is not one of them.

Here is what Joe Johnston said about the inclusion of The Sub-Mariner, from the latest issue of Total Film magazine:

"That talk about Sub-Mariner is just talk. The story is solidly about Steve Rogers, his origins, and how he becomes Captain America."

In other Marvel news, a recent tweet from Pajiba indicates that Marvel Studios is gearing up to make a spin-off movie on the War Machine character from Iron Man 2. Here's the tweet:

"It may be denied if reported, but don't be surprised if you hear about a War Machine spin-off soon. Pitch is out to writers #thehollywoodcog"

Don Cheadle portrayed Lt. Col. James "Rhodey" Rhodes in Iron Man 2, where he becomes the War Machine companion of Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man. It isn't clear if Don Cheadle is attached to the new project or not.
