It has long been rumored that Disney will introduce Captain Marvel at the very end of Avengers: Age of Ultron, as a new team is assembled under Captain America's watch. Though, with the movie just under three months away, we haven't heard any casting news on who will take on the role of Carol Danvers. Jessica Chastain was an early favorite for the character, who will be featured in Marvel's first female superhero adevnture in 2018. Battlestar Galactica star Katee Sackhoff has also been an odds on favorite. But back in November, another, more surprising name threw her hat into the ring. Showing off fan art on her personal Instagram account, Vikings star Katheryn Winnick began to campaign for the role. And in our recent interview with the actress, she claims she's ready to fight Katee Sackhoff for the opportunity to join Marvel's ever-expanding cinematic universe.

We recently caught up with Winnick to discuss her return as Lagertha in Vikings Season 3. It was here that she revealed she is still very much interested in taking on the role of Captain Marvel. Though, it's unclear if she has been approached at this time. About the possible casting, she says:

"Are you kidding me? I would love to! I would love to do that. I am such a big fan of those movies and comic books. It would be a dream come true. I love kicking butt. Lagertha, my character in Vikings, kicks butt in the dark ages. It would be interesting to go into the future and do a fantasy one as well."

She does go onto talk about Katee Sackhoff possibly winning the role, and challenges her to a fight. But it's all in fun. She states:

"Are you asking for a standoff? We can fight it out! We'll see who the best person is for the job! I'll just have a strong sidekick...No, no, no...All kidding. I haven't heard much about it, but I know it would be something I'd be interested in. For sure. Who wouldn't be?"

She then reveals that she is actually a fan of Katee Sackhoff, and wonders if they can't both be in the movie:

"I'm a huge fan of her show. We could both be a part of the franchise. I'm sure there are ways of doing it!"

You can check out the video interview here. It's not quite clear when Marvel and Disney plan on announcing who their Carol Danvers is, and it has never been confirmed that she will actually appear in Avengers: Age of Ultron. It's also possible that she may be introduced in Captain America: Civil War. But, Marvel is making a big announcement this Thursday about an upcoming movie. We've heard that a director and actor will be revealed for one of the upcoming movies. Will it be Captain Marvel? We have three more days until we find out!
