One of the several projects Marvel is developing for their Phase Three slate is Captain Marvel, which is currently slated for release on November 2, 2018. The studio set Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy) and Meg LeFauve (Inside Out) to write the script, but they haven't announced a director quite yet. One of the early candidates that Marvel was interested in to direct Captain Marvel is Angelina Jolie, although it isn't even known if the filmmaker wants to take on the superhero project. Today we have a new report that claims Marvel is still pursuing Angelina Jolie to direct, and the actress/filmmaker's new friend Charlize Theron may also star as Captain Marvel. Here's what an unidentified source had to say, revealing that Angelina Jolie would likely sign on to direct if Marvel casts Charlize Theron.

"Marvel has been courting Angie to direct the project and Charlize is a clear fan favourite for the starring role. If Charlize were to get the part, Angie would almost certainly sign on to work with her new pal."

At this point, it isn't known if Charlize Theron is even interested in taking on the Captain Marvel role. Other actresses such as Jessica Chastain, Emily Blunt and Katheryn Winnick have been rumored for the role in the past, but with the movie still three years away from release, it isn't known when a decision on the Captain Marvel casting will be made. Still, if Marvel does want Angelina Jolie to direct Captain Marvel, one way to ensure her signing on could be to cast Charlize Theron.

We also reported last month that Marvel may be considering Ava DuVernay (Selma) to direct either Captain Marvel or Black Panther, but those rumors haven't been confirmed either. Would you like to see Angelina Jolie directing Charlize Theron in Captain Marvel? Let us know what you think below.
