/captain-marvel-cast-avengers-2-age-ultron/Earlier in the week it was reported by 'Bum Juice' scoop extraordinaire El Mayimbe at Latino Review that Carol Danvers had been cast for the Marvel Phase Three adventure Captain Marvel, and would be making her debut appearance in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Fuel was added to the fire when toy photos from the movie appeared online that included Captain Marvel in the line-up. While this rumor has been lingering around for awhile, Nerdist now calls it completely false, saying the character is not going to appear on the big screen this summer:

"A source close to production confirms that Captain Marvel will not appear in Avengers 2."

It is not known, however, if the first part of Latino Review's scoop is correct. Did Marvel already cast the role of Carol Danvers? If that is true, we haven't heard whom landed this coveted part in Marvel's Phase Three line-up just yet. Jessica Chastain revealed in November that she had met with Marvel for an unspecified role that many believe is Carol Danvers, while Emily Blunt was rumored to be in contention back in December. Vikings star Katheryn Winnick has expressed her interest in playing Carol Danvers on multiple occasions, but it isn't known if she was actually ever up for the role.

In other news, this time springing out of Meet the Movie Press, it is said that Marvel is definitely seeking a female director to take the helm on Captain Marvel, which is something we've heard in the past. Joss Whedon teased that he'd be up for the job, since he is not returning for Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Avengers: Infinity War Part 2. But that doesn't sound likely. One candidate that we've heard rumored for the job is Angelina Jolie, who was reportedly offered $50 million to take on the project by Marvel. No one at Disney or Marvel has ever confirmed that to be true, but sources close to the actress-turned-filmmaker claim she is keen on the idea. And who wouldn't be for $50 million? Here is the quote from Meet the Movie Press followed by the tweet which also has some interesting X-Men: Apocalypse news thrown in as an added bonus:

"The Captain Marvel director is definitely going to be female."
