Production on Captain Marvel is in full swing, shooting in Oxnard, California. Thanks to leaked set pictures, we have our first look at Jude Law. Filming commenced earlier this week in California and z news report out of Ventura County confirms that the movie is shooting a big carnival scene. The report noted that it was for a movie starring Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, on a set with 135 extras. Additionally, there is a massive crew of about 150 people.

The new set photos from Captain Marvel feature Brie Larson in the green suit that we've seen her in before. She appears to be walking towards Jude Law behind-the-scenes, clutching an iPhone. Jude Law is shown dressed in all black, with a coat covering up what he's wearing underneath. It isn't clear if this is a part of his wardrobe or not, but you can see a blue design in the shirt area that is also represented on his pants as well.

Jude Law is playing Doctor Walter Lawson, aka Mar-Vell, Carol Danvers' mentor and this is the first look that we've seen from the actor on set. Lawson was the original Captain Marvel, who wore the red, blue, and gold suit that we all know Danvers to wear. The design was shown in concept art that was unveiled during San Diego Comic Con over the summer. It isn't clear how Jude Law's Doctor Lawson character will be portrayed in Captain Marvel, but it is assumed that it will be pretty close to the comic book story.

It was previously believed that Brie Larson would make her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut as Captain Marvel in the upcoming Infinity War, but she was written out. She was going to be somewhat of a foil to Steve Rogers' newfound negative outlook, according to screenwriter Stephen McFeely. However, now she will make her entrance in her standalone movie first, and then appear in the still untitled Avengers 4 a few months afterwards. Some fans were angered by the news, but there's presumably already a lot going on in Infinity War, and it's best not to waste the debut of a new character into the MCU.

Captain Marvel is currently filming in California and on schedule for its March 8th, 2019 release date. Infinity War is the next movie on deck with Ant-Man and the Wasp following later this summer. Marvel Studios has a lot on their plate at the moment with a bunch of projects all working separately and in various stages of completion, making for an impressive output. While we wait for more news about the status of Carol Danvers' adventure in the early 1990s, you can check out the brand-new behind-the-scenes images from the set of Captain Marvel, featuring Brie Larson and Jude Law below, from Just Jared's Twitter account.
