Marvel Studios' highly-anticipated Captain Marvel continues production in Los Angeles, and new photos from the set show how the production is embracing 1990s fashion. The new photos offer glimpses of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers, along with our first look at Lashana Lynch on set, who are both, apparently, big fans of 1980s and 1990s rock bands. Brie Larson is spotted wearing a Nine Inch Nails t-shirt in one photo and a sleeveless t-shirt featuring the iconic 1988 Guns 'n Roses album cover of Appetite for Destruction in another, while Lashana Lynch is seen wearing a shirt from Van Halen's Tour of the World in support of their iconic album 1984.

Unfortunately, none of these photos offer any sort of story details, since the images were taken as the actresses were leaving their trailers on the set, but one of the other images features Brie Larson wearing a United States Air Force t-shirt, which is certainly fitting seeing as how Carol Danvers is an Air Force pilot. Both Brie Larson and Lashanna Lynch are also seen wearing 90s-style jeans, with Lynch even sporting jeans with a hole over one knee, in quintessential 90s fashion. The photo of Larson wearing the NIN shirt also shows her with a flannel t-shirt tied around her waist, a staple of "grunge" fashion at the time.

Lashana Lynch's character has still not been confirmed at this time, although a report from last week claimed that Lynch is playing a character who is a "contemporary of Carol Danvers," with many speculating that the character is actually Monica Rambeau. In the Marvel Comics, Monica Rambeau was a longtime Avenger who frequently worked with Carol Danvers, and in the Ultimates series, she would become known as the hero Spectrum. Regardless, this character is one of the few that Marvel hasn't confirmed the identify of, so hopefully we'll find out more about this character soon.

While filming has been under way since late January, which is when the first set photos surfaced, Marvel finally confirmed that production has started last week, while revealing the first official photo of Brie Larson as Carol Danvers. The studio also confirmed a number of other interesting details, including that Clark Gregg will finally return to the movie side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Agent Phil Coulson, which makes sense since this story is set in the 1990s, long before his "death" in 2012's The Avengers. Other previously-deceased characters like Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) and Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace) were also confirmed, which also makes sense since a great deal of this story is said to be set in outer space.

The cast also includes Ben Mendelsohn as the villainous Yon-Rogg, along with Jude Law as Mar-Vell and Gemma Chan as Minn-Erva. Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Half Nelson, Mississippi Grind) are directing from a script that they also worked on alongside Nicole Perlman (Guardians of the Galaxy), Meg LeFauve (Inside Out), Geneva Robertson-Dworet (Tomb Raider), G.L.O.W. creators Liz Flahive and Carly Mensch.
