Production is underway on Captain Marvel, and Samuel L. Jackson has shared a behind-the-scenes image of himself getting a face cast. It was announced at San Diego Comic Con that Jackson was returning as Nick Fury for the project and concept art revealed that the hero will have both eyes, since the movie takes place in the early 1990s. As for the reasoning behind the face cast, it's not exactly clear why Samuel L. Jackson needs one for Captain Marvel.

Samuel L. Jackson took to social media to share a picture of himself getting a face cast done for Captain Marvel, while admitting that he was able to catch a quick nap in the process. The picture was captioned with, "Caught a lil' nap while going thru the process today!" He also hashtagged Captain Marvel and commentary on how getting a face cast is not fun. The movie is set in the early 1990s, so it seems that the face cast of the 69-year old actor might be used in an attempt to de-age him.

Fans have been commenting on Samuel L. Jackson's picture, trying to get to the bottom of why he's getting a face cast done in the first place. The process is common in Hollywood to get an accurate mock-up of an actor's head, but many are beginning to speculate that Nick Fury is one of the Skrull villains, which is pretty wild to think about, though it's unlikely. Ben Mendelsohn is expected to play the villainous Kree colonel Yon-Rogg, in Captain Marvel, so the idea of Nick Fury doesn't really fit.

Brie Larson was spotted on the set of Captain Marvel earlier this year in a green suit that threw fans for a loop. However, Marvel Studios head, Kevin Feige, has noted that the hardcore comic book fans are on the right track when assuming that the green suit is early on for Carol Danvers. Concept art that was released over the summer featured the red, gold, and blue costume that fans are familiar with, so we will end up seeing the Captain Marvel costume at some point during the movie.

Additionally, Kevin Feige revealed that Captain Marvel will take place before Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury knew about the other heroes. Carol Danvers will be the first hero that Fury comes across in the early 1990s. Feige also said that the movie will pay homage to the action films of the era, which sounds pretty interesting. Kevin Feige specifically pointed out the action elements of James Cameron's Terminator 2 as a direct influence on Captain Marvel and noted that most of movie takes place in outer space. Captain Marvel is gearing up to be a pretty epic movie, but why does Samuel L. Jackson need the face cast? You can check out the image of the actor getting the cast on Samuel L.
