Director Michael Winterbottom is set to direct an adaptation of Jim Thompson's noir novel The Killer Inside Me. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Casey Affleck and Jessica Alba have both singed on to star in the film.

The screenplay will revolve around a West Texas sheriff (Affleck) that is pushed from his boring existence in a small town into the life of a ruthless, sociopathic killer. Alba is set to play a prostitute in the thriller. Thompson's novel had previously been adapted into a film in 1976, starring Stacy Keach.

The film will go into production before the end of the year.
