The novels written by Nathan Fillion's title character in ABC's Castle are about to come to life, with ABC developing a Derrick Storm TV series.

In Castle, before Richard Castle (Nathan Fillion) started working with Beckett (Stana Katic), the character wrote a series of novels centering on CIA operative Derrick Storm. Due to the popularity of the Castle TV series, several of these Derrick Storm books and graphic novel adaptations were actually published in real life by Hyperion Books, under the pseudonym Richard Castle. Some of the titles include A Brewing Storm, A Raging Storm and A Bloody Storm.

Gregory Poirier is writing the pilot script, which will not be a direct spin-off of Castle, although no other story details were given. The writer will also executive produce alongside Castle creator Andrew W. Marlowe and his wife Terri Miller.

Gregory Poirier created the ABC series Missing, and he also developed pilots for ABC and NBC last year.
