Catherine Keener and Vince Vaughn have joined the cast of Into the Wild for Paramount Pictures.

Written and directed by Sean Penn, the film chronicles the true story of Christopher McCandless, played by Emile Hirsch, who abandoned his possessions and hitchhiked to Alaska to live in the wilderness and return to nature. The Hollywood Reporter adds he died four months later in an abandoned bus at a remote campsite.

Into the Wild is based on the the Jon Krakauer book; it has a 2007 release date. No production schedule is set.
