CBS has taken a fifty percent ownership stake in the online talent search Big Shot. According to Variety, they are attempting to move their TV syndication model to the Internet.
The online program will be made available to the websites of over a hundred local CBS stations. Described as "Star Search for the Youtube set", the show will also be heavily promoted on Entertainment Tonight.
A weekly segment tied to the program is already in the works, and will be aired on Entertainment Tonight. And it will have a perennial home on ET's own website. The show will revolve around wannabe singers, actors, models, comics and even sports stars that must compete in daily online popularity contests for their chance to be flown to Hollywood and get their big break.
