We reported last month that two actresses have signed on to director Bruce Beresford's new film and now a new actor has joined the cast as well. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gossip Girl star Chace Crawford has signed on to the cast of Peace, Love and Misunderstanding.
Crawford joins the cast that already includes Jane Fonda and Catherine Keener. The film centers on Keener's character, a conservative lawyer who takes her children to live with her estranged, hippie mother (Fonda) in Woodstock after her husband leaves her. Crawford will play a butcher who vocally opposes the Iraq war, who gets noticed by the politically-fueled daughter of Keener's character.
Bruce Beresford is directing from a script by new writers Christina Mengert and Joseph Muszynski. Production is set to start next month, with filming to take place in New York's Hudson River Valley.
