Although it has been passed by Squid Game as Netflix's biggest series to date, Stranger Things is still highly profitable with the highly anticipated fourth season of the show coming in mid-2022. Of course, between now and then we all must get past what could be one very cold winter. And so it was a wise announcement for sports apparel giant Champion to announce a partnership with Netflix to produce Stranger Things themed winter apparel. Champion has announced shirts, hoodies and varsity jackets in both light and darker colors featuring the Hawkins High School logo from the show. The darker shaded items feature the logo, appropriately enough, Upside Down.

Stranger Things, of course, is the highly acclaimed Netflix science fiction and horror series centered around the strange events in the small town of Hawkins, Indiana and is set during the 1980s. The series was created by the Duffer Brothers and was an immediate ratings success for Netflix, quickly becoming the streaming giant's biggest hit.

The first season of Stranger Things focuses on the investigation of the strange disappearance of a young boy named Will Byers. While investigating his disappearance, the town has other, stranger things (Which rather makes the show's name make sense, doesn't it?) happen, including the appearance of a mysterious psychokinetic girl named Eleven. Eleven, played by Millie Bobby Brown, quickly became a fan favorite. The second season focused on the rest of the kids on the show helping Will to Hawkins, Indiana after being in the mysterious Upside Down. They also must combat the strange beings that were freed from the Upside Down when they rescued Will in season 1.

One of the reasons that Stranger Things has such a following is the series's ability to infuse pop culture references from the 80s into the show, receiving acclaim for, not only its writing and pacing, but also its direct homages to several classic 1980s films. The Duffer Brothers stated that they took inspiration from the works of such notables as Steven Spielberg, John Carpenter, and the master of horror himself, Stephen King.

With Stranger Things being so reliant on 80s references, it is no surprise that a company like Champion has chosen to partner with Netflix to create branded material. Founded in 1919, Champion apparel found a resurgence in their brand when the NFL used their products for both their on-field and replica jerseys in the 1980s. Although Champion's partnership with the NFL did not last too long into the 90s, they found a new partner with the NBA and continued to do well with their new partner. Champion was purchased by Sara Lee Corporation in 1989. Now, they are owned by Hanesbrands, which was spun off from Sara Lee in 2006.

The cast of Stranger Things includes Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Millie Bobby Brown, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Sadie Sink, Natalia Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Cara Buono and Dacre Montgomery. Netflix recently released a teaser for season 4, which you can watch below. Seasons 1 through 3 are streaming now on Netflix and season 4 premieres in 2022.
