Channing Tatum is about to take some leaps he's never taken before. According to Variety, Tatum has signed on for the lead role in an untitled film about Parkour, a free-jumping extreme sport where athletes run and jump from rooftop to rooftop, for New Line Cinema.

Richie Smyth will make his feature directorial debut, from a script by Kevin Lund and T.J. Scott. The story revolves around these unique athletes who use their talents for elaborate heists.

Parkour was most recently seen on the silver screen in opening scenes of the 007 film, Casino Royale. Smyth himself, a music video director, is an extreme athlete himself, even putting on hold a trip to Alaska where he would jump out of a helicopter and snowboard down a mountain to audition for the job.
