While Channing Tatum has seen plenty of action roles over the past few years, with performances in White House Down and G.I. Joe Retaliation, he has yet to take on a superhero character. The actor was recently doing press for the international release of White House Down, where he revealed that he would really like to play Gambit from the X-Men franchise.

"I would like to play Gambit. Gambit is my favorite, because I'm from New Orleans, or around that area. My dad is from New Orleans and I'd love to do that. I can do the accent, and no knock on Taylor Kitsch (from X-Men Origins: Wolverine) at all, because I really liked his Gambit, but I've always lived in and around the Cajun area. Gambit was always the woman-loving, cigarette-smoking, drinking guy. He was punk rock. He kind of rode the line."

Fox has yet to announce any plans for their X-Men franchise beyond next summer's X-Men: Days of Future Past, so it isn't known if Channing Tatum will ever get a chance to play Gambit or not.
