Monumental news last night revealed that District 9 and Elysium director Neill Blomkamp will resurrect the Alien franchise alongside producer Ridley Scott. This announcement comes on the eve of Blomkamp dropping his next sci-fi epic into theaters. Chappie opens next month, and to celebrate, Sony has released the first two clips featuring stars Hugh Jackman and Sigourney Weaver.

Every child comes into the world full of promise, and none more so than Chappie: he is gifted, special, a prodigy. Like any child, Chappie will come under the influence of his surroundings - some good, some bad - and he will rely on his heart and soul to find his way in the world and become his own man. But there's one thing that makes Chappie different from anyone else: he is a robot. The first robot with the ability to think and feel for himself. His life, his story, will change the way the world looks at robots and humans forever.

Watch as the Police send their droid squadron in to help fight a battle against a gang of vicious criminals in the first action-packed scene from this Pinocchio like fairytale. The second, more somber scene finds Hugh Jackman revealing to Sigourney Weaver that Dev Patel has created a sentient drone. This can't be good for anyone, right? We'll find out on March 3. In the meantime, enjoy the fireworks!
