Now that Daredevil has well and truly entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the character is expected to undergo a few changes. One change that star Charlie Cox is hoping for is a costume one, with the actor longing to see the character finally adorn the iconic “DD” symbol across his chest. An element that Cox’s iteration of the Marvel character has so far lacked.

"If there is some new suit or if it does morph or change or it's redone or whatever, it will be so much more fun for the fans to just have that moment of like, 'Oh shit, that's what it is.' What I would say is, I've always liked the idea that at some point in Matt's journey, his emotional journey, and again, I don't know how everything is happening, or what might happen, and how it ties into what we've already done, I have no idea at all. But I've always liked the idea that at some point he feels like he has earned the right to have the DD [on his chest], which we've never had.”

In an interview with Comicbook.com, Cox explained how the appearance of the symbol could be tied into Matt Murdock’s evolution as a superhero. Something which the actor, and no doubt audiences, would love to see take shape on screen.

“And one day down the line, I like the idea that he just makes that decision; we get to witness that evolution on screen. That's just a little idea that I've had that I thought would be quite cool."

So far during Charlie Cox’s Daredevil tenure, the character has gone in the other direction, with the third season finding him reverting back to his black, ninja-esque costume rather than the red suit and horned cowl. But, with Cox’s Matt Murdock now in the Marvel Cinematic Universe following his crowd-pleasing cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, this is surely the perfect time to give Daredevil the symbol and thus his most comic-accurate costume so far.

Since appearing back on the Marvel scene in Spider-Man: No Way Home, there have not been any further announcements regarding plans for future Daredevil appearances. Thankfully, Charlie Cox himself has recently revealed that, while he doesn’t know much, there is more to come from the character soon. "I know something. I don't know much, but I know there will be something else," the actor said.

There are rumors abound that Daredevil will make further cameos in upcoming Marvel projects such as She-Hulk and Echo, with a recent talent grid seemingly confirming that a standalone project is already in the works. This will suit Cox, who believes he could be played Daredevil for the next decade; "I don't know much, I know a little, and what I do know I'm very excited about...there’s a chance it could be the next ten years of my life."

Daredevil, along with Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Punisher, recently left Netflix and are now scheduled to become available on Disney+ from March 16.
