Daredevil: Born Again brings Charlie Cox’s fan-favorite Marvel hero back to the small screen in his own 18-part Disney+ series. What is not clear is exactly which other stars from the former Netflix series based on the character will be joining him. With Cox having previously said that the new series, Daredevil’s first lead project since joining the MCU, will be “a season one not season four”, but also that the character is the same one that appeared in three seasons until 2018’ cancelation of Marvel Television’s output on Netflix, where does that leave the other stars of his former show?

There is no secret that Vincent D’Onofrio will be reprising his role as Kingpin, having already made his first MCU appearance in last year’s Hawkeye, and both he and Cox expected to make appearances in that show’s spin-off series, Echo. When it comes to the rest of the old Netflix gang, Cox would really love to be reunited with them again. He told Variety:

“It was an absolute delight to work with everyone on all of those shows at Netflix. They were the beating heart of all of those shows. I would be honored and thrilled to work with any of them again. I would hate to single anyone out and I would hate to speculate because I just don’t know what the plan is going forward. That’s way above my pay grade. There are so many great stories to tell. There are stories to tell again. That wouldn’t be inconsistent with what they do in the comic book universe. Often a new writer and artist will take over a book and they will start from beginning. So maybe we’ll be doing that, but I genuinely don’t know. I’m just thrilled that I’ve been invited to the party.”

Did Charlie Cox Think He Would Return As Daredevil?

Following the cancelation of Marvel Television on Netflix, and with it the likes of Daredevil, Jessica Jones and more, Charlie Cox didn’t believe that he would be back again as Matt Murdock/Daredevil, and in his own words had “put it to bed.” Therefore, he is grateful to have the chance to now come back and continue the character’s story as part of the MCU. He previously said:

"I think I'm still coming to terms with it. It still feels too good to be true. I really had put this to bed emotionally; I didn't think that this was going to happen. I literally don't have the words to describe it. I feel incredibly grateful. I'm so excited about starting again and reading scripts and putting the costume back on and getting on set and being in New York. I can't wait to start back in and tell more of this amazing character's story."

Daredevil: Born Again is expected to be released on Disney+ sometime in Spring 2024, but it is likely that we will catch a glimpse of Cox in other Marvel projects prior to that.
