Actor Charlie Hunnam has teased a possible return for Jackson 'Jax' Teller to the world of Sons of Anarchy. Speaking with Access, Hunnam revealed that he has “an idea” for how Jax could make a roaring comeback...despite the state the character ended up in at the end of the series. Check out what Charlie Hunnam said of Jax’s return below.

“I have an idea that I’m exploring in its infancy where that could be a possibility. It would be something that I would be incredibly excited about, so we’re sort of, like I said, in the infancy of exploring the viability of the idea.”

Created by Kurt Sutter and airing from 2008 to 2014, Sons of Anarchy centers on the lives of an outlaw motorcycle club operating in Charming, a fictional town in California's Central Valley. The series follows Charlie Hunnam as Jackson "Jax" Teller, who discovers a manifesto written by his late father, who was once president of the club. After reading his father’s thoughts about the direction of the club, Jax begins to question himself, his relationships, and the club itself.

Running for seven seasons, Sons of Anarchy received much acclaim throughout and is now considered one of the best television series of all time. The world has continued on beyond Sons of Anarchy with a spinoff, Mayans M.C., and deals with the Sons' rivals-turned-allies, the Mayans Motorcycle Club. Released courtesy of FX, Mayans M.C. premiered its fourth season in April and in July, was renewed for a fifth season.

SPOILER alert for a show that ended around eight years ago. After all manner of drama involving love, brotherhood, loyalty, betrayal, and redemption, Sons of Anarchy ends with Jax committing suicide similarly to how his father did. So how could the character return after all these years?

While Charlie Hunnam does not reveal details of the idea that he has in mind, we can partake in some speculation. Perhaps the show would be a prequel, detailing the adventures of Jax during the original Sons of Anarchy series? The show could follow Abel Teller, Jax’s son, with Jax appearing as a sort-of spirit guide to give him advice? Or maybe, just maybe, the show will bring Jax back from the dead, with the biker tasked with punishing the wicked much like the flaming-headed comic book biker, Ghost Rider?

Whatever the idea might be, it must be a good one, as Hunnam has said in the past that he would never, ever, under any circumstances, bring Jax back. "I would never, ever put that cut back on. I would never put his rings back on. Not even for Halloween,” the actor said in November 2020. “It was a very deep experience. I lived with that character inside me for years, like, in a very real way. In a way that manifested in ways that I could never even [have] imagined."

Charlie Hunnam will next be seen as part of the ensemble cast for director Zack Snyder’s Rebel Moon.
