Charlize Theron has sported a number of hairstyles for her appearances as Cipher in the Fast and Furious franchise, but for The Old Guard 2 she's gone back to the 80s with a new mullet do that she recently debuted during a benefit for the Charlize Theron Africa Outreach Project. The actress acted as moderator for a Q&A with Colin Trevorrow and cast members of Jurassic World: Dominion, but she did give mention to her latest look during the event.

The Old Guard was a surprise hit for Netflix, and it didn’t take too long for a sequel to be put into development with Theron reprising her role of warrior Andy, the leader of group of immortals who have protected the world for centuries. In the first movie, Andy and her team find themselves under threat from those seeking to replicate the group’s inability to die and use it for their own profit. As an action-packed sci-fi epic, the film gained a lot of praise and Theron was happy to make a return to the character.

Mentioning her latest hairstyle, which is a dark mullet, Theron explained that there is a reason for the particular style, and it is all about showing the change that has occurred since the first movie. As noted by The Hollywood Reporter, Theron said:

“We needed something that felt like time had passed, so for that, you go with the ol’ mullet.”

As one of the biggest stars in Hollywood, it is not surprising to see Charlize Theron appearing in a number of movies at any one time, but recently she has been popping up in a number of short cameo roles in some big productions. She made a surprise addition to the post-credit scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness last month as Clea, a character who will be seen again in Doctor Strange 3 as she has a big role in Marvel Comics’ world.

By a strange coincidence, she also featured in Amazon Prime’s comic book series, The Boys, playing the role of Stormfront in the in-world movie Dawn of the Seven. While it is only a fleeting role, Theron was more than happy to be part of the bizarre and graphically violent world of The Boys for a short time. On that subject, she said:

“I love the show. I love Seth Rogen and I love the entire team at Point Grey. We, obviously, made Long Shot together and all became fast friends. You know, we look out for each other but ultimately, if he called me and it was a crappy show, I wouldn’t do it. But he doesn’t make crappy things. It was really fun to go and do that.”

Obviously, Charlize Theron is never someone who finds themselves out of work, but her future is looking very busy indeed. She is currently filming on Fast X, and will also be returning to that franchise for its final eleventh installment in the future, is now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe and has The Old Guard 2 coming along soon, so we can expect to see plenty more good things from the actress in the next few years.
