From the classic one-liner, "Was your father a thief? Because he stole the stars and put them in your eyes", to the more modern spin on it, "Are you Google Maps? 'Cause you just gave me directions to my heart," cheesy movie pickup lines have been around for decades. The list is seemingly endless, with some funny, some cringe-worthy, and some straight out of an '80s rom-com.

Some noteworthy mentions include "What's a nice girl like you doing in a place like this?" from Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, "Do I know you from somewhere? Have we met before?" from She's All That, "Was that cannon fire, or is my heart pounding?" from Casablanca and perhaps most famously "You had me at hello" from Jerry Maguire. Here are some cheesy movie pickup lines that will make you swoon, laugh, or feel like falling in love.

Thelma and J.D. take a liking to each other and spend the night together, only for Thelma to discover that J.D. ran away with her money. While they are in bed, the devastatingly handsome J.D. regales Thelma with stories of all the places he's robbed and Thelma is intrigued by him. She finally asks him, "You are really an outlaw, aren't you?" To which he replies, "I may be the outlaw, but you're the one stealing my heart."

When Harry Met Sally movie
Columbia Pictures

It has everything a romance movie should have; a sweet meet-cute, an emotionally unavailable man who falls in love and cheesy pickup lines.

The movie follows the story of Harry (played by John Cusack), a man who doesn't believe that men and women can just be friends without sex getting in the way and Sally (played by Meg Ryan), a woman who believes the opposite. They fall in love, but Sally does not think Harry loves her because of his past. The Notebook is another classic romance movie that has become a fan-favorite. It has both emotional storytelling and stellar performances by its lead actors. The film is based on Nicholas Spark's novel of the same name, so of course, there are several cheesy pickup lines to make viewers swoon.

The movie follows Allie (played by Rachel McAdams) and Noah (played by Ryan Gosling), two characters from different backgrounds. Noah goes off to war, and Allie remains and gets engaged to a wealthy man called Lon. Their story is told in a series of flashbacks of their past and present. The past is when they fell in love, and the present is when Allie has Alzheimer's, and Noah tries to help her remember him by reading through the notebook that tells the story of how they fell in love. During one of their fights, Noah tells Allie, "I want all of you. Forever. Every day," which takes the cake when it comes to promises of being with someone forever.
