When I first heard about this project, I thought it was a joke. But it looks like Avalon Family Films is really going ahead with it. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chevy Chase has been signed onto the cast of Jack and the Beanstalk. Katey Sagal, Wallace Shawn, and Gilbert Gottfried have also decided to join the project.

The film is a family-friendly take on the tale, which sees Jack on the verge of flunking out of Fairytale School. James Earl Jones is currently in talks to voice the Giant, which will be a CGI creation. Sagal is playing Jack's mother, while Shawn will play the pawnbroker that sells Jack his magic beans and Gottfried will play a goose that lays golden eggs.

Chase is only appearing in a cameo. The live-action tale is already underway in Los Angeles. It is one of ten low budget family films currently being made by Avalon.
