Chicago P.D. is just a few hours away from landing its 10th season on NBC. After the convulsive and controversial latest reports about the show, it's time to review the plot, the cast, and everything else we know so far about the new season of one of the most successful police dramas of recent times.

From multiple Emmy Award-winning executive producer Dick Wolf and the team behind the hit series Chicago Fire and Chicago Med, Chicago P.D. is a riveting police drama set in Chicago City about the men and women of the Chicago Police Department’s elite Intelligence Unit, combatting the city’s most heinous offenses – organized crime, drug trafficking, high-profile murders and beyond.

At the center of Chicago P.D. is Sgt. Hank Voight (Jason Beghe), who is at ground zero against the war on crime in Chicago and is fiercely determined but yet complicated. His close-knit team of detectives shares his passion for keeping the city safe, including Det. Jay Halstead (Jesse Lee Soffer), a committed and ethical detective who previously served in Afghanistan; Officer Adam Ruzek (Patrick John Flueger), a quick thinker who often leads with his heart; Officer Kim Burgess (Marina Squerciati), a fearless former patrol officer whose research and astute observations often lead the team in the right direction; Officer Kevin Atwater (LaRoyce Hawkins), a bright and quietly charismatic member of the team; and Det. Hailey Upton (Tracy Spiridakos) is a seasoned detective whose tough demeanor belies her complicated emotions. Desk Sgt. Trudy Platt (Amy Morton) runs a tight precinct with a firm hand, although she lets her wry sense of humor shine through from time to time.

In addition to Wolf, executive producers are Gwen Sigan, Chad Saxton, Rick Eid, Derek Haas, Gavin Harris, Jason Beghe, Arthur Forney, Peter Jankowski, and Michael Brandt. Chicago P.D. is produced by Universal Television, a division of Universal Studio Group, in association with Wolf Entertainment.

Chicago P.D. Season 10: The Plot

Chicago P.D
NBC

Chicago P.D. is not a show that is characterized by the information it gives in the synopsis. Rather it is the type of show that doesn’t let you see its path too much until it develops it a bit. The summary of season 10 is no exception:

The Intelligence Unit will be tested as it learns how to work efficiently with a new chief of police. In addition, a new member has been added to its ranks – Officer Dante Torres (Benjamin Levy Aguilar), who is fresh off patrol but will hold his own on a team with big personalities.

That said, taking into account how Chicago P.D. season 9 ended, fans can expect Voight to have unresolved issues after Anna's death, much like Jay and Hailey, who were the most involved with Anna at the end of the previous season.

Adam and Kim also have personal issues to deal with. They began to form a family together with Makayla, but Kim's fear that Adam would fail her again was too strong and both were left in limbo. They are not a couple, but they try to be close for Makayla’s sake. It's time for Chicago P.D. to give Burzek fans some answers.

On the other hand, in the new season of Chicago P.D., a new Police Chief arrives in town and that usually spells trouble for the Intelligence Unit. It doesn't look like this season is going to be any different.

Chicago P.D. Season 10: The Cast

Chicago P.D
NBC

As for Chicago P.D.'s main cast, fans can expect the return of all members of the team during the first episodes of the season. Although, sadly, that situation will not last long. Following Jesse Lee Soffer's departure report, fans can look forward to what will be the first loss to the main cast in a few years.

What's worse is that fans won't have much time to get used to the idea of Jesse's departure and the loss of Detective Jay Halstead, given that the character will say goodbye in the first half of the season. Even though fans aren't sure what Jesse Lee Soffer's exit will mean for Chicago P.D. and Upstead, they're not holding out much hope that the show can iron out all the loose ends organically.

However, despite this bad news, the team will have a new rookie. Benjamin Levy Aguilar will be joining the show in a series regular role, reprising his role as patrol officer Dante Torres. This news was very well received by the fans, although they hope that this recruit stays and what happened to Vanessa Rojas and her limited role as a member of the Intelligence team doesn’t happen.

Regarding the other members of the team, fans can rest assured that there will be no new casualties. So Amy Morton will return to be the surly but good-hearted Trudy Platt, Jason Beghe will once again play the dirty hands, Sergeant Voight, while LaRoyce Hawkins, Marina Squerciati, Patrick John Flueger, and Tracy Spiridakos will return to life the most beloved members of Intelligence.

Since Chicago P.D. season 9 ended, fans are eager for much more of their favorite show. However, it’s undeniable that the loss of Jesse Lee Soffer as Detective Jay Halstead deflated the fans' anxieties. Doubts about how they would take this fan-favorite character out of the series and what they would do with the pair formed by Jay Halstead and Hailey Upton, the main ship of the series, weigh too heavily.

However, after the passing of the days, most of the fans recovered the desire to enjoy a new season of Chicago P.D. And they're in luck, as the show has its premiere scheduled for Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at 10/9c. That is, the series is just a few hours away from returning and, as usual, it will occupy the last turn of One Chicago Wednesday.
