Composter Bear McCreary has revealed a new video showcasing his theme for the upcoming Child's Play Remake remake. Not only do we get to see McCreary compose the music for the soundtrack, but we can also see that he brought the new theme to life using mostly instruments that were intended as children's toys. Talk about staying on brand.

Bear McCreary has become an incredibly prolific composer in recent years, having worked on The Walking Dead, 10 Cloverfield Lane and Godzilla: King of the Monsters, amongst many other projects. The video reveals his dedication to his craft, as well as the hauntingly twisted theme for the rebooted version of the Child's Play franchise, which will feature Mark Hamill as the voice of Chucky. In a recent interview, McCreary revealed that he tried to actually score the entire soundtrack using only toys. Here's what he had to say about it.

"One thing that I decided to try was to score the entire film with toys. I eventually formed a group of toys that I called my Toy Orchestra. It was toy pianos, toy xylophones, plastic guitars. I raided my daughter's playroom and got little action figures that make clicking sounds, I got toy drums, anything that made a sound. Then, I augmented that with just weird handheld instruments that I could play myself: Accordions, hurdy gurdys, melodica, pocket synthesizers, Otamatones. Really strange sounds."

This is, to say the least, a pretty non-traditional approach. But given the premise of this franchise, it makes sense. The musician also revealed that he was hesitant to take the job initially, due to his love of the original movies. However, once he saw what director Lars Klevberg and the rest of the creative team had in mind, he was convinced. Speaking further, he reveals that 95 percent of the music we're going to hear in the movie was composed with toys.

"I assembled them all together and wanted them to be the foundation of this score, and in fact, I wanted to avoid entirely anything resembling a traditional orchestra, and in that, I succeeded. 95 percent of what you hear in Child's Play is me, performing something, or singing in my own studio, layering it over and over and over to create the sensation of an orchestra filled with toys, and I augmented that with a little bit of a string quintet, for some of the more emotional passages. I sometimes come up with my best ideas when I set myself unusual limitations, and here, completely removing the ability to use an orchestra, or use orchestral techniques, I had to get inventive. I really had the time of my life."

The full soundtrack is available now. The cast for the movie includes Aubrey Plaza, Brian Tyree Henry and Gabriel Bateman. Child's Play is set to arrive in theaters on June 21. The audio only clip features Mark Hamill singing the Buddi theme song. Friends until the end. We've also included Fantomas' take on Rosemary's Baby theme song, which sounds quite similar to this new tune from McCreary and was also created using various kids toys. Perhaps it served as inspiration?
