Chloë Grace Moretz has expressed interest in returning to the violent vigilante world of Kick-Ass for a threequel, but under one condition, that everyone else comes back too. Speaking with Jimmy Fallon, the actress stated that, while she certainly thinks it would be fun to suit up once again as Hit-Girl for Kick-Ass 3, the idea and circumstances surrounding the project would have to be absolutely perfect for her to consider a comeback.

"I mean I think I would love to do a Kick-Ass 3. I think it'd be really fun to see where Hit-Girl goes, and what she's like as an adult. But I think it would have to be kind of perfect. I feel like it would need to be, across the board, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Chris Mintz-Plasse and the whole crew back together."

Moretz continued, asserting that she would “for sure” think about reprising the Hit-Girl role for a third Kick-Ass outing, before reiterating that "I think it would be a lot of fun." While this is far, far from any kind of indication that Kick-Ass 3 will happen, Moretz’s eagerness to return could certainly get the cogs in the studio machine turning.

Directed by Matthew Vaughn, the first Kick-Ass follows comic book geek Dave Lizewski (Aaron Johnson) who sets out to become Kick-Ass, a real-life superhero. He soon meets fellow crime-fighters Big Daddy (Nicolas Cage) and Hit-Girl, who are on a mission to dismantle the underworld empire of mob boss Frank D'Amico (Mark Strong), involving Kick-Ass in their crusade. But Frank's men play rough, and his son, Chris (Christopher Mintz-Plasse), is about to become Kick-Ass' very first arch-nemesis. When Chris assumes the persona of Red Mist, the stage is set for a superhero showdown that could spell the end of Kick-Ass once and for all.

Released back in 2010, Kick-Ass did not quite achieve the box office numbers expected but was met with praise from critics, with the adaptation marking a shift in attitudes towards R-rated comic book fare, which later lead to the likes of Matthew Vaughn's own Kingsman adaptation and the much-celebrated Deadpool franchise. A sequel, Kick-Ass 2, followed in 2013, but while it added the likes of Jim Carrey into the mix, the movie was met with mixed reviews from critics, ultimately ending the franchise with a whimper. Fans of Kick-Ass though have wondered whether a third movie would ever come to fruition, and Chloë Grace Moretz’s enthusiasm over a possible return is certainly a step in the right direction.

Kick-Ass creator Mark Miller however recently put a dampener on any hopes of Kick-Ass 3, even with the endorsement of stars like Moretz, saying "You know, it's funny, occasionally something pops up about a third Kick-Ass, but it's never true. What happens is, I think, one of the original actors is being interviewed about another movie and they'll be asked, 'Is there another Kick-Ass' and they'll say, 'Well, I don't know maybe' and then it becomes a headline, 'Maybe Another Kick-Ass Is Coming.' But in reality, we've literally never had a conversation about it." Could Moretz’s enthusiasm for the sequel spark the conversations? Only time will tell. This comes to us from The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
