Director Chris Columbus, still smarting from the box office bombs I Love You, Beth Cooper and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: Lightning Thief, has decided to take on the remake Hello Ghost as his next project.

The story revolves around a young man who attempts suicide, but when he fails he finds himself being haunted by four ghosts who demand that their final wishes be granted. The man sets out to help these lost spirits find their wat back home.

The script is based on the Korean box office smash of the same name. Says Chris Columbus, "After watching Hello Ghost I was immediately struck by the film's ability to mix comedy, drama and complex emotional themes. Its strong universal storyline translates to any culture, and I'm looking forward to bringing a version of this wonderful story to the English-speaking audience."

Hello Ghost will be distributed by Korea's Next Entertainment World. No production start date was given at this time.
