Over the past several years millions of fans have enjoyed watching Chris Evans as Marvel's Captain America, saving the world time and time again from all manner of perils, including Nazis and Thanos the Mad Titan. However, now that he's passed the shield on to Anthony Mackie and taken to starring in a variety of other features, there is one thing he's enjoying the most about teaming up with Ana de Armas on his new movie. Per an interview with Variety at the New York red carpet premiere of his latest film Ghosted, Evans is not shy to admit that he liked being the one getting rescued for a change by his co-star.

Both Chris Evans and Ana de Armas star in the new action-packed romantic comedy Ghosted, which is helmed by Dexter Fletcher with Apple TV+. Fletcher previously directed recent biopics Bohemian Rhapsody (2018) and Rocketman (2019). The film is co-written by Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, Chris McKenna, and Erik Sommers. Evans is also a producer on the project alongside Wernick, Reese, David Ellison, Dana Goldberg, Don Granger, and Jules Daly. While the movie is littered with some big Marvel star cameos, Scarlett Johansson was originally planned to co-star alongside Evans in the film, but had to drop out due to scheduling conflicts and was replaced by Ana de Armas.

The premise of the film revolves around Evan's character Cole Riggan, a hopeless romantic in love with Armas' Sadie Rhodes. After a date, Rhodes apparently ghosts Cole much to his confusion and disappointment. However, he eventually discovers that she's actually a CIA agent dispatched on a classified assignment. Before he can attempt to win her back and push for a second date, the two of them get swept away on a new adventure that lands them both in hot water.

Chris Evans Praises Ana de Armas as the Hero of Ghosted

Screen-Shot-2023-03-06-at-3.56.58-PM

Per the film's array of comedic twists, Armas plays the main heroine of the film, using her polished skills as a CIA operative to save Evans from imminent danger. Evans praised de Armas for her performance while humbly admitting that it's a relief to be on the other side of the hero dynamic for a change.

"It was great. I mean, we’ve all seen Ana be badass; she was so good in [‘No Time to Die’]...It was nice to be the damsel in distress. It was nice to need saving — primarily because I didn’t have to sweat during the action sequences."

Evans and de Armas are no strangers to working together on screen. They previously starred in the unique mystery film Knives Out (2019) and more recently the Russo Brothers' action thriller film The Gray Man (2022). De Armas is also starring in another upcoming action feature titled Ballerina, which is a spin-off of the immensely popular John Wick film franchise.

Ghosted is out now exclusively on Apple TV+.
