Chris Hemsworth has become the first Marvel Cinematic Universe star to lead four solo superhero movies with the upcoming release of Thor: Love and Thunder, but even with so much time spent in that role, the actor isn't hanging up the cape just yet. As of now, it's unclear if and when Hemsworth will return as Thor in other movies set in the MCU. Given the immense interest surrounding Love and Thunder and Hemsworth's continued popularity with fans, however, it certainly seems inevitable that he'll be back soon enough.

In any case, Hemsworth was directly asked (via Extra) if he was planning to hang it up as Thor after Love and Thunder, as there have been "rumblings" in the industry about the film possibly being his final appearance in the role. Hemsworth could not officially confirm that he will return as Thor but also made it clear that he has not ruled out a return. He explains how he has already felt on multiple occasions in years past that he was probably finished with the role just for another good offer to come along, so he's keeping the door open this time.

"Every time I play Thor, I'm like, 'This is the last time they'll let me do it.' So, I don't know. I love it! I love it. I'll keep coming back for more and more until someone kicks me off the stage. I love it. My whole career has been based around this character, and to come back and play it again and again with different directors and different casts has been an absolute joy. We'll see what the fans want. I'm down for whatever's enjoyable, and having a good time, and that's what this experience in the Marvel world has been for me, so, bring it on!"

“I know this: there are many, many other Thor stories in the comics that we talk about a lot, and as we watch Chris Hemsworth continue to grow and evolve as a major acting talent, I would be excited to see how he keeps evolving this complex character," Feige said.
