Last month, we reported that CBS Films offered a whopping $10 million to Chris Hemsworth for the starring role in American Assassin. It seems that the Thor star has too full a plate, since he recently turned down the offer due to scheduling issues. Here's what an insider had to say.

"The truth is the deal never came together because of timing."

Chris Hemsworth is currently shooting Thor: The Dark World, and he will move on to film Steven Spielberg's Robopocalypse shortly thereafter. He will also return as Thor in The Avengers 2.

American Assassin is based on the novel by Vince Flynn, the 11th book in his series about CIA terrorist hunter Mitch Rapp. This particular novel gives us Mitch Rapp's origin story, chronicling his transition from a college athlete to CIA agent. Bruce Willis is already attached to star as Rapp's agency mentor.

Jeffrey Nachmanoff is directing from an adapted screenplay provided by Michael Finch. It isn't known when production will begin at this time.
