Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are in talks to join Disney's upcoming adaptation of Into the Woods. Johnny Depp and Meryl Streep are also attached to star.

Based on the Broadway musical, the project is a mash-up of classic fairy tales that revolves around a Baker and his wife. The couple attempt to lift a curse put on their family by traveling into the woods to confront the witch that cast the spell upon them. On their journey, they meet a group of iconic characters such as Rapunzel, Cinderella and Little Red Riding Hood.

Johnny Depp will be playing the wolf with Meryl Streep portraying the evil witch. Chris Pine and Jake Gyllenhaal are teaming up to play pompous and cocky princes of Cinderella and Rapunzel.

Rob Marshall is directing from a screenplay provided by James Lapine. The studio is expected to start production this fall.
