Actor Chris Pine has gone viral for his reactions to the bizarre goings-on behind the scenes and during the various press conferences and interviews surrounding Don’t Worry Darling. The latest happening occurred when Pine’s co-star Harry Styles attempted to praise the movie for how much it feels like, well, a movie.

“You know, my favourite thing about the movie is it feels like a movie,” Styles says. “It feels like a real go-to-the-theatre film, movie, that you know… the reason why you go, to watch something on the big screen.” During Styles’ best efforts to explain why Don’t Worry Darling is worth seeing, Chris Pine appears to completely zone out, with the actor no doubt imagining himself somewhere more peaceful.

This is just one of the somewhat peculiar things said by Harry Styles amid the many conferences and interviews for Don’t Worry Darling, which has now had its world premiere at the 79th Venice International Film Festival. Recently Styles stated that, as an actor, he does not really have any idea what he’s doing.

"Making music is a really personal thing. There are aspects of acting where you're drawing from experience a bit, but for the most part you're pretending to play someone else,” Styles began. “That's what I find the most interesting about it. They can aid each other in a way. Anytime you get to view the world through a different lens, it can help create whichever way it goes. I find it really different. I think the fun part if that you never know what you're doing in either of them. Music I've done for longer, but what I like about acting is I feel like I have no idea what I'm doing."

Directed by Olivia Wilde (Booksmart) and starring Florence Pugh (Oscar-nominated for Little Women), Harry Styles (Dunkirk), Olivia Wilde (Babylon), Gemma Chan (Crazy Rich Asians), KiKi Layne (The Old Guard) and Chris Pine (All the Old Knives), Don’t Worry Darling centers on Alice and Jack, who are seemingly lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950’s societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank (Pine)—equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach—anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia.

But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in this paradise?

Don't Worry Darling also stars Nick Kroll (How It Ends), Sydney Chandler (Pistol), Kate Berlant (Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood), Asif Ali (WandaVision), Douglas Smith (Big Little Lies), Timothy Simons (Veep) and Ari’el Stachel (Respect the Jux).

Don't Worry Darling is scheduled to be released in the United States on September 23, 2022, by Warner Bros. Pictures.
