The Princess Diaries 3 was confirmed in November, but details surrounding the anticipated film remain mostly under wraps. Those eager to learn whether their favorites will return for the film will be happy to know that Chris Pine is open to returning Genovia. Pine joined the franchise during its sequel, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, as Lord Nicholas Deveraux, Princess Mia Thermpolis' (Anne Hathaway) rival turned romantic partner. The 2004 film was Pine's feature film debut.

During the premiere Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves at Los Angeles' Regency Village Theatre on Sunday, Pine spoke with ET about his interest in participating in The Princess Diaries 3.

"Yeah, I'm here! I'm here for it. Give me a phone call or an email," he told the publication.

Pine, Michelle Rodriguez, Hugh Grant, Regé-Jean Page, Justice Smith and Sophia Lillis star in Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves, which premieres Friday, Mar. 31. Up next, Pine is slated to appear in Poolman (which he also directs), an untitled Star Trek sequel, and Newsflash, where he will portray famed broadcast journalist Walter Cronkite. He will also lend his voice to Robot Chicken and Disney's Wish.

The Princess Diaries, which premiered in 2001, starred Hathaway and Julie Andrews as Mia and Queen Clarisse Renaldi, respectively. As Mia, Hathaway portrayed an awkward teenager who discovers she is actually royalty. The popular film, which grossed over $165 million worldwide, was followed up with its 2004 sequel, which saw Mia returning to Genovia following her Princeton University graduation.

Although Hathaway has yet to confirm any involvement in the franchise's third film, she recently discussed fan response to the news of the upcoming film:

"[It’s] thrilling [to] see the level of excitement for it. We feel the exact same, and I know it’s probably very frustrating [waiting]." She added: "It’s a process that requires patience, and so everybody should consider themselves a part of the movie business now, because this is how long it actually takes to make things."

Andrews also spoke about her possible involvement. Unfortunately, it seems unlikely that the veteran actress will appear in The Princess Diaries 3.

"I think it would be too late to do it now. There was talk of a sequel many, many years ago. But I don’t think it ever came to pass. And [director] Garry Marshall then did leave us. [For] especially me, it’s too far down the line now to go back to it. It’s a lovely thought, but I don’t think it would probably be possible."

Marshall, best known for creating Happy Days and his work directing films like Overboard, Beaches, Pretty Woman, and both The Princess Diaries films, passed away in 2016. A director for the upcoming film has not been named.
