Chris Pine has just signed on to star in writer/director Ryan Craig's independent drama Small Town Saturday Night. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Shawn Christian, Bre Blair, John Hawkes, Robert Pine, Lin Shaye, Muse Watson and Brent Briscoe will also appear in the film.

The plot revolves around a country musician whose dreams of success conflicts with the girl of his dreams. Their affair gravely affects those around them.

The film will have a strong country feel to it. And Craig will call in some favors, insuring a ton of country music star cameos. The film will be filled with original music composed by Steve Dorff. Chris Young is performing the title song.

The film is currently shooting in Crestline, California.
