Chris Rock is taking on a 2007 dark comedy remake for his next project. According to Variety, Rock is set to star and co-write a remake of Frank Oz's film Death at a Funeral.

The original film was set in England and starred Matthew McFayden, Ruppert Graves, Peter Dinklage and Alan Tudyk, which revolved around a series of bizarre happenings that unfold at a British funeral, with a secret about the deceased that unfolds. Rock's film will be set in urban America, but will also be an ensemble comedy that explores the same types of situations.

Rock is co-writing the script with Aeysha Carr and the project is currently seeking a director. Production is planned to start on the remake next spring.
