Though The Dark Knight Rises is still in the midst of principle photography, it looks as though Christian Bale has already moved onto his next project with acclaimed director Terrence Malick (The Tree of Life). The duo was spotted filming scenes at a Bright Eyes concert during Austin City Limits yesterday.

At this time, it is not known what this Terrence Malick Mystery Project is about, or what these scenes pertain too. The pair were also seen shooting footage at concerts for Coldplay and the indie band Pretty Lights. This has lead to speculation that the project will be about the music industry in some capacity. According to IMDB, Terrence Malick is planning a production about legendary Rockabilly pianist Jerry Lee Lewis, who was already immortalized on film by Dennis Quaid in 1989's Great Balls of Fire!. It seems unlikely that Christian Bale would also be trying his hand at Jerry Lee Lewis, but its not impossible. But then, that begs the question, why are they filming at present day shows? Only time, or a really good scoop, will tell. Check out the image of Christian Bale and Terrence Malick as they begin work on what looks to be Terrence Malick Mystery Project below.
