An assortment of character posters for the upcoming comical mystery, Amsterdam, put the spotlight on the stellar cast that will inhabit director David O. Russell’s period piece. Unveiled courtesy of the official Amsterdam Twitter account, the first batch of character posters offer another look at the main trio, Academy Award winner Christian Bale as Burt, Academy Award nominee Margot Robbie as Valerie, and the Golden Globe-nominated John David Washington, who find themselves at the center of a murder mystery. The rest of the posters highlight the star-studded cast that has been amassed for Amsterdam. Alongside this A-list trio, Amsterdam will feature Chris Rock (Spiral: From the Book of Saw), Anya Taylor-Joy (The Northman), Zoe Saldaña (Guardians of the Galaxy, Avengers: Endgame), Mike Myers (Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery), Michael Shannon (Bullet Train), Timothy Olyphant (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Andrea Riseborough (Possessor), Taylor Swift (Cats), Matthias Schoenaerts (The Old Guard), Alessandro Nivola (The Many Saints of Newark), Rami Malek (No Time to Die), and Robert De Niro (The Irishman).

Seeing them all lined up like this, Amsterdam clearly possesses one of the most impressive supporting casts to ever grace the silver screen.

Amsterdam Finds Christian Bale, Margot Robbie & John David Washington at the Center of a Murder Mystery

Amsterdam comes courtesy of 20th Century Studios and New Regency. This original crime epic finds Christian Bale as Burt, Margot Robbie as Valerie, and John David Washington as Harold, with the vastly talented trio starring as three friends, a doctor, a nurse, and an attorney, who find themselves becoming the prime suspects in a murder in Amsterdam during the 1930s. As well as finding themselves at the center of one of the most shocking secret plots in American history. Amsterdam, the latest film from acclaimed writer/director David O. Russell, and is described as “a fascinating and richly intricate tale that brilliantly weaves historical fact with fiction for a timely, cinematic experience.”

Amsterdam is just one of several projects in the pipeline for the main trio. First off, Christian Bale will soon star in Netflix’s The Pale Blue Eye as veteran detective Augustus Landor who, in 1830, is partnered with a young Edgar Allan Poe with the pair investigating a series of murders at the United States Military Academy in West Point, New York. The Pale Blue Eye will begin streaming on January 6, 2023.

Margot Robbie meanwhile has several major releases on the horizon, including director Damien Chazelle’s Babylon in which she will star alongside Brad Pitt, Diego Calva, Tobey Maguire, Samara Weaving, Olivia Wilde, Spike Jonze, and Jean Smart. Following Babylon, Robbie will star as Barbie in the Barbie movie, with Ryan Gosling set to star as Ken.

Finally, following the release of Amsterdam, John David Washington will star in True Love, a science fiction outing from Rogue One and Godzilla director Gareth Edwards.

Amsterdam is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 7, 2022, by 20th Century Studios.
