Actor Christian Slater will star in the new indie horror movie Playback, according to Variety.

Christian Slater will portray a small-town police officer in this story that revolves around a group of high school kids who start digging into their town's shady past and accidentally unleash an evil presence. Toby Hemingway, Johnny Pacar, Alessandra Torresani, Ambyr Childers and Daryl Mitchell also star in the movie.

Michael A. Nickles is directing from his own script. Filming has been under way for the past two weeks, which is being shot on location in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
