Actress Christina Ricci has signed on to star in the maternal drama Mother's Day for director Paul Duddridge.

The story follows 12 mother-daughter pairs as they navigate through the May holiday. Susan Sarandon and her real-life daughter, Eva Amurri, have already joined the cast. No details were given for Christina Ricci's character.

Paul Duddridge will direct from his own original screenplay, with Danielle James producing. No production schedule was given.

Christina Ricci was last seen on the short-lived ABC series Pan Am, and stars in Bel Ami alongside Robert Pattinson. We reported last month that she will also provide the voice of Lexi, an evil Smurfette, in The Smurfs 2.
