Veteran character actor Bill Irwin has signed on to star in director Christopher Nolan's Interstellar. As is normally the case with any Christopher Nolan movie, details about the actor's character have not been revealed.

The story centers on a group of explorers who travel through a wormhole and discover another dimension of space and time. The plot is reportedly based on the scientific theories of physicist Kip Thorne, who believes that wormholes do exist, and can be used for time travel. Kip Thorne is serving as a scientific consultant on the project. Bill Irwin will reunite with his Rachel Getting Married co-star Anne Hathaway in a cast that also includes Matthew McConaughey, Jessica Chastain and Michael Caine.
