According to Variety, Ray Stevenson, Christopher Walken and Val Kilmer have joined the cast of Code Entertainment's The Irishman.

Jonathan Hensleigh (The Punisher) will write and direct the screenplay. The film is based on Rick Porrello's book "To Kill the Irishman: The War That Crippled the Mafia."

The film follows real life mobster Danny Greene (Stevenson), who ran Cleveland's criminal underworld with an iron fist in 1970s. Walken will play the loan-sharking nightclub owner Shondor Birns, and Kilmer will play the part of a Cleveland police officer who keeps company with Greene.

The film starts shooting May 19 in Detroit.
