The Legacy of Chucky panel at Comic-Con promised to deliver a full trailer for the new Chucky series, and it didn't disappoint. Chucky creator Don Mancini spoke to Entertainment Weekly about the new series recently, announcing that it would be a solid continuation of the original Child's Play movies in both direction and tone, and with many of the original cast back in the fold, including Brad Dourif as the killer doll himself, it seems like one of the surest hits out of the recently swathe of remakes and reboots.

Now, the new full trailer seems to confirm that the series will bring back the bloody mayhem that originated with Child's Play making the franchise a hit in the first place.

The official line for the series is: an idyllic American town is thrown into chaos after a vintage 'Good Guy' doll turns up at a suburban yard sale. Soon, everyone must grapple with a series of horrifying murders that begin to expose the town's deep hypocrisies and hidden secrets. Meanwhile, friends and foes from Chucky's past creep back into his world and threaten to expose the truth behind his mysterious origins as a seemingly ordinary child who somehow became this notorious monster.

Talking about the series, Mancini said, "The main character is a 14-year-old gay boy who's bullied and sort of lost after the recent death of his mother. He's a young artist [making] sculptures with doll parts. He finds Chucky at a yard sale and buys him, but it turns out that he gets much more than he bargained for. One of the things I wanted to do was bring [the franchise] back to its Child's Play roots and have the protagonists [be] kids. But since, with the first couple of movies, we'd already delved into having little kids I wanted to explore something different, so this time we're exploring young teenagers."

While the new trailer has given a good chunk of Chucky to keep us going until the series premiere's in October, there are a couple of absentees from the preview. Jennifer Tilly, who has been very active on Twitter lately promoting the show and her role in it from behind the scenes, and Alex Vincent and Christine Elise, who play Andy Barclay and Kyle respectively. While there is no doubt that we will be seeing them in the series, it is actually good to see a trailer that doesn't blow all its secrets in one go, so personally, a little mystery around how exactly they fit into the story is absolutely fine with me.

Don Mancini was responsible for writing the original Child's Play movie and its six sequels. While the recent reboot movie was a bit of a hit and miss affair, there is a different buzz around this series. Of all the reboots and remakes coming down the line, the ones that have managed to capture some of the magic of their predecessors have all had a deep connection with them, whether that be returning cast, writers or directors. Considering Chucky brings all of these in abundance, there is little chance that this is not going to be lapped up by fans when the series premieres on USA Network and SYFY on October 12.
