It is not unusual for Marvel stars to feel the need to comment on their involvement in upcoming projects, but Chukwudi Iwuji has recently become one of the many to speak out about their roles in the great Marvel narrative while revealing nothing at all about what that role is. A newcomer to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iwuji is one of the new stars who will be appearing in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 next year, and the actor couldn’t help but speak about some of the online speculation around who he could be playing in the sequel after James Gunn teased that the actor has been cast in a role “every big name actor in Hollywood wanted.”

It is already known that the third Guardians movie will see the arrival of Adam Warlock, portrayed by another Marvel virgin Will Poulter, but when it comes to Iwuji’s role, everyone seems to be playing their cards close to their chest. Fans have suggested that the role could be Beta Ray Bill, or perhaps even the Silver Surfer and considering the Fantastic Four are on the horizon that could have been a very solid possibility. A more recent rumor has suggested the involvement of The High Evolutionary in the movie, which is yet another strong contender for Iwuji to be playing. During an interview with The Movie Dweeb, Iwuji reacted by saying:

"I saw those [rumors] recently, I've seen that. I saw Silver Surfer, I saw Nova, I've seen [many]. For me to wrap my head around the fact that I am the subject of speculation around the Internet is kind of fun. But I have to stay mum, I can't tell you. I'd love to."

Chukwudi Iwuji Is One Of The Best Actors James Gunn Has Worked With

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will reteam Chukwudi Iwuji with director James Gunn following their work together on the HBO Max Peacemaker series. The DC project sees Iwuji playing a mercenary who is tasked with handling John Cena’s Christopher Smith/Peacemaker, and working on the project saw Gunn describe the actor as “one of the best I’ve ever worked with.” Considering the breadth of the writer/director’s work, that is a lot of actors and a great accolade to come from someone of Gunn’s credentials.

Currently, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 is expected to be the end of an era for Gunn and a number of Marvel regulars who are thought to be making their swansong in the new movie. The film will see the return of MCU regulars Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Vin Diesel (the voice of Groot), and Bradley Cooper (the voice of Rocket Raccoon) along with Sean Gunn (Kraglin) and Sylvester Stallone (Stakar Ogord) also reprising their roles.

For those speculating on where Chukwudi Iwuji fits in the new story, there will be plenty more time to do just that with Gunn having hinted that it will be at least another year before we see a trailer for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 and that is likely to be the first time we will get any idea of Iwuji’s role and whatever other surprises are coming our way in one of the final Phase 4 adventures of the MCU.
