A Better Life director Chris Weitz has signed on to write the screenplay for Disney's Cinderella.

Back in August, Mark Romanek (Never Let Me Go) signed on to direct Cinderella, which will be a live-action version of the classic fairy tale by Lewis Carroll. The project was first set up in March 2010, on the heels of another Lewis Carroll live-action adaptation, Alice in Wonderland. Mark Romanek will take over for Aline Brosh McKenna, who wrote the first draft of the Cinderella script.

No cast members are attached to Cinderella just yet, and specifics of the re-imagined story line are being kept under wraps. It isn't known when production will begin on Cinderella.
