Cinderella Man: According to The Hollywood Reporter, Universal Pictures is moving its release date for Cinderella Man to March 18, 2005, from the Dec. 17 berth in which it was originally scheduled to bow this year.

Because of its pedigree, the movie -- which reunites Russell Crowe, Ron Howard and Brian Grazer, the team behind the Oscar-winning A Beautiful Mind -- had been considered a potential Oscar contender in the 2004 race, but now it will have to take aim at the 2005 contest instead.

Crowe dislocated his shoulder training for the period boxing pic, and so the beginning of production has been postponed until April 19. However, the studio said the injury was not a factor in the decision to postpone the film's release, explaining that the new release date allows for more time to mount a marketing campaign.
