Following a brief teaser released earlier this week, Showtime debuted the second trailer for Season 4 of Homeland, which returns with the season premiere on Sunday, October 5, along with new promo art..

This new footage reveals that Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes) will be spending most of her time in Pakistan, as U.S. forces are being withdrawn from Afghanistan. This footage also gives us our first look at a few new cast members, Suraj Sharma (Life of Pi) and Corey Stoll (The Strain), who we reported last month will guest star as Sandy Bachman, the CIA's Chief of Station in Pakistan. Take a look at the footage and the promo art, then read on for more information about the season.

If you look closely at the footage, you'll catch a brief glimpse of Carrie's young child, in a photo seen on her nightstand, who she had with the late Brody (Damian Lewis). It isn't clear if the child comes to Pakistan with her, but that country is hardly the environment for a toddler. Series regular Mandy Patinkin also returns as Saul Berenson, but with Carrie on the other side of the planet, it isn't known how much she'll be interacting with her mentor this year. Rupert Friend and new series regular Nazanin Boniadi are also returning for Season 4.

Entertainment Weekly also reports that, during Showtime's presentation at the TCA Summer Tour, a video was shown featuring Claire Danes and Mandy Patinkin, who joked that your favorite characters will die this season.

"[Showrunner] Alex Gansa has promised to only kill most of your favorite characters this season."
