Los Angeles Times is reporting that Warner Bros. and Legendary Pictures execs have been busy talking to potential directors for Clash of the Titans 2, with hopes to start shooting the sequel as early as next January.

Many directors' names are circling, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning director Jonathan Liebesman is rising to the top of conversations.

The new director would replace Louis Leterrier, who directed the original remake Clash of the Titans, which has grossed $486.8 million worldwide since it hit theaters about two months ago.

Clash of the Titans 2 will be filmed in 3D. The studio is planning production when star Sam Worthington becomes available after Avatar 2, which shoots later this year.
