Clash of the TitansThe Kraken was released on the home video charts this week and it destroyed all competitors in its path. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Clash of the Titans topped the DVD sales, DVD rental and Blu-ray sales charts in its first week on the shelves, the week ending August 1.

There were only two other new releases - one a theatrical title and the other a straight-to-DVD animated release - and they didn't provide much competition for the Louis Leterrier film. Batman: Under the Red Hood, the latest in the DC Universe Animated Original Movies, debuted in second place on the DVD and Blu-ray sales charts, although it was a distant second place. The site reports that the Warner Home Video release only sold one-fifth of the units that Clash of the Titans sold. The only other notable new release was Repo Men, which took third place on the DVD sales, DVD rentals and Blu-ray sales charts.

Clash of the Titans completed the sweep with a win on the Blu-ray sales charts, in equally dominating fashion. It was said that 44% of Clash of the Titans' total units sold were in the BD format, a percentage that was the second-highest of the year, behind the mega-blockbuster Avatar, which sold a massive 49% of its first-week units in the BD format. Coincidentally, despite being on the shelves for nearly five months, Avatar took fourth place on the BD sales charts this past week.
