Tom Hanks reunites with filmmaker Steven Spielberg for the fourth time in next year's Untitled Cold War Thriller, following their collaborations in Saving Private Ryan, The Terminal, and Catch Me If You Can. While the project still does not have a title at this time, Entertainment Weekly has debuted the first photo, as part of their extensive 2015 preview issue. Steven Spielberg is currently in post-production on this thriller, which is based on the incredible true story of American lawyer James Donovan (Tom Hanks)
In 1960, at the height of the Cold War between the U.S. and Russia, American pilot Francis Gary Powers was shot down over Russian airspace, during a mission in his U-2 spy plane. Donovan was recruited by the CIA to help negotiate the pilot's release. Alan Alda, Amy Ryan, and Mark Rylance round out the cast, with Joel and Ethan Coen providing the screenplay. Take a look at what Steven Spielberg had to say about this incredible true story, then take a look at the photo below.
"This is one of the more astonishing stories about the Cold War I'd ever heard. James Donovan is a hero to me, and Tom made him so completely accessible. I've always wanted to make a spy movie, and this is that and then some."
