Variety reports that Director Peter Weir has rounded out the cast of his film The Way Back with Colin Farrell, Ed Harris, Jim Sturgess and Saoirse Ronan.

The story looks at soldiers who managed to flee from a Siberian gulag in 1942. In the film Farrell will be a tough Russian who is covered in tattoos; Harris portrays an American; and Sturgess mixes things up as a Polish inmate. Ronan's character meets up with these people on the run.

The script, which Weir wrote, follows the memoir from Slavomir Rawicz.

This is the first movie that Weir has helmed since Master and Commander: The Far Side Of The World in 2003.

The Way Back starts shooting in March in Bulgaria.
