A novel praised by both Stephen King and Twilight author Stephanie Meyer will be coming to the silver screen. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Color Force has acquired the rights to Suzanne Collins' novel Hunger Games.

Collins' book, the first of a planned trilogy, has been described as a blend between Battle Royale and The Running Man, where Americans watch the televised ongoing battle between a boy and a girl who are forced to fight to the death.

The book was released last year and executives started to take notice recently when Twilight author Stephanie Meyer praised the novel in her blog and Stephen King has shown favor to the book as well.

No production schedule was revealed at this time.
